"What great meetings with Bill and Carol, it's like having old friends come and visit! We are still having people from our church (and some from outside) contact us about how they were touched by their ministry this past January 2006. We can't wait to have them back! We've come a long way since they were with us in 2003 in our tent meetings, yet our vision and theirs is still the same, to reach the hurting and broken with the demonstration of God's love and power!" Bob and Carolyn Sawvelle, Pastors

Bill and Carol Dew have a passion to see the church of Jesus Christ equipped, empowered and activated in the supernatural gifts of the Spirit to bring in the harvest. As they teach and impart through the laying on of hands, believers begin to move in greater power and confidence, becoming naturally supernatural everywhere they go, twenty-four seven. They are reproducing the miracle-working ministry of Jesus in local churches and helping Christians obey His command to “go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Bill was a successful commercial real estate agent and Carol a content housewife and mother until God interrupted their comfortable lives. Carol received a call into ministry in 1981. She graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an MD in 1988 and became an ordained Presbyterian pastor. God arrested Bill in 1992 and transformed him from a nominal Christian into a passionate, Spirit-filled believer with a call to the healing ministry. Bill left the business world and became sold-out for God. Their marriage and ministry were radically changed during a three week stay at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship in 1996, and life has been an incredible adventure ever since.

Bill traveled full-time with Randy Clark from August 1998 through November, 1999. During that time, he and Carol, who joined him on many of those trips, caught the impartation for receiving words of knowledge for healing and have been used by God to minister physical healing to many. Carol is trained as an Elijah House prayer counselor and is anointed in inner healing. They presently make their home in Vacaville, CA where they are associated with Christian Life Center.

Bill and Carol have ministered in Vineyard, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Church of God, independent Pentecostal and Charismatic, Foursquare, and Assembly of God churches in the United States and fifteen countries throughout the world including India, Fiji, Brazil, Korea, Australia, England, Ireland and Argentina.

GOD IN A VACANT DIRT LOT

It's a big, vacant dirt lot, sandwiched in between a low priced motel that attends to the poor, and a low price variety store. Frankly, on this weekend trip to Tucson, it looks like a hundred other vacant lots I saw as we rode around the city. But since November, every Sunday morning at about 10, a group arrives to put up a tent and sound system. By 11 there's a tent with about 50 chairs under it and another smaller tent over the sound equipment. Off to one side there is a table with doughnuts and coffee. This is not church as most of us are used to. Last summer when we were ministering in Fiji, we were asked to go to a small district church. It consisted of an overhang in someone's front yard where 45 people gathered. I wrote that this is the way the majority of churches are in the world, not what we've become accustomed to in the US. Just before we start worship they lay down strips of carpet to serve as a front altar area and a place for ministry. The pastors of Tucson Area Christian Fellowship, Bob and Carolyn Sawvelle, tell us that so far no one has fallen under the power of God, although some have been hit with laughter or intercession. I know Carol and I were wondering if this would be the day.

UNCOMFORTABLE, SO I JUST PRAY FOR SOMEONE

The weather has been perfect for something like this, until last weekend. It was only in the mid-sixties and it was windy. On this day, it is about the same with partly cloudy skies. It's cold if you're sitting under the tent in the shade. If you're folically challenged like me you run the risk of sunburn if you opt for the sun, but I take the risk and pay later. When worship begins at 11:15 there are about 50 people including kids. It's an interesting mix of people as you might imagine. Worship is by CD with 2 people singing and leading us. The kids are actually into worship and many are dancing and waving flags and banners. The pastor's 9 year old daughter was born into this move of God. This is all she knows. She's been in the renewal and been with her missionary parents as they served in Haiti. She's seen the power of God and to her that's the norm. Once when she and her parents went to a mainline church she noted "mom, there's no power here." Out of the mouths of babes. Now, she's leading the kids, dancing in the dirt. The night before, I had challenged the renewal people who had come to a meeting in a hotel ballroom that if they wanted to see miracles, many times they would have to step out of their comfort zones. I realize I'm completely out of mine now. Both Carol and I am dressed more for the indoor church than a vacant lot, but she feels completely at home here. Still, the thought comes fleeting in and out "I bet if Jesus suddenly came to Tucson, this is where He'd come." Partly out of compassion, partly out of my uncomfortableness, I go to an older woman who I knew in the natural had a cough and congestion in her chest. Turns out she's a smoker, lots of pain and congestion in the chest, and has a bad cough. After asking her if I could pray for her while she worshipped, I just soaked her in the healing touch of Jesus and the love of the Father. He came. Many tears, many words of knowledge. A little bald man sent from California to "read her mail" so she would get just how much He really loves her. Breathing fully and deeply without pain or coughing. After a while she could no longer stay seated, she had to get up and she said "I feel like I could run around his lot!"

BEFORE BATTLE YOU NEED "REFRESHING"

What has brought us to this place? Bob and Carolyn Sawvelle had heard about our ministry and Bob went with Randy Clark on a team to Mozambique last summer. They started this church to begin ministering to the poor and hurting, as well as to reach out to the many people who loved the renewal but whose churches didn't, or at least weren't flowing in it like previously. They would meet periodically at their home to keep the fires of renewal burning, and to do ministry training. They met on Sunday nights at a hotel for a while, but then the cloud seemed to move to this vacant lot. They connected with a woman from an evangelical church who was feeding the poor on this lot every Thursday evening. They joined with her, and then began meeting on Sunday mornings. She sees their heart, and I know she was able to see the power of God coupled with the gentle love of the Father flowing through us and these people. The weekend started with a house meeting of the core leaders on Friday night. Then Saturday night we met with about 40+ people in a hotel meeting room. This was a gathering of many of the people in the renewal who go to various other churches. I was nervous about my message, that I hadn't heard God right about encouraging them with stories of taking the power of God to the streets, and stopping to pray for the same ailments represented in the story. I got even more nervous when a couple got up and walked out before I could get up to speak. The Spirit of the Lord was moving on many of the people and I was thinking "Don't leave, I'm not like them and if you can just hold out a little longer you'll be able to identify with me and see that it's ok." All I know is, many of these people have allowed themselves to be radically touched by this move of God, causing them to do some unusual things at times. But this church is getting up off the floor and is going into a mission field that is hard, not pretty or glamorous, but where Jesus is. To go into the spiritual battle they go into, they need the refreshing of the Lord. And this night was about encouraging them to take the power and presence of God to the marketplace--it was a challenge we issued to them, and ourselves. I think many will rise to the occasion. One woman said she had already prayed for a divine appointment, as she had to go to Wal-Mart before going home. She got the message! And the healing? Yes, He backed up my stories again and there were many healings.

IT WAS "HER DAY" TO EXPERIENCE GOD'S "I" FACTOR

When I walked onto the lot Sunday morning, I was immediately drawn to a young woman standing by the coffee table. I knew it was to be "her day." I learned she had come to the Thursday night feeding 2 weeks ago to help, was an agnostic, but the conviction and love of the Lord came on her that night and she gave her life to Jesus. Then I saw her sitting on the curb, smoking her cigarette, and reading her brand new bible she had just been given. What a picture of what the harvest will be like as they start coming in. Carol's message was on the "I" factor of God. Our circumstances may look like something will turn out a certain way but God says that's "I"rrelevant because He's the God of the "I"rrrational "I"nterruption. It's an encouraging message and many of the people came forward for prayer for God to come and "interrupt" their circumstances in their health, finances, or relationships. I noticed that young woman stood watching nearby, smoking another cigarette. Carol and I prayed for two women who got gloriously touched by God, laughing, crying, falling under the power. The carpet is now christened. And then she was in front of us, sobbing. She wanted prayer for her very sick mother. Interesting isn't it-she saw the power of God, must have sensed it was real and was DRAWN to it. She's new to all this, she's not filled with a bunch of religious ideas, so we just told her that she could pray for her mother. As we prayed for a healing anointing for her she was trembling under the power. Before praying for the filling of the Holy Spirit Carol asked if there had been any occult involvement. We've learned that if someone doesn't renounce occult involvement, when you pray for the filling it can cause an internal war. Carol did a mini-sozo with her, having her renounce her involvement with horoscopes, magic eight ball and oijia boards and dealt with some other issues. The anointing was so strong and this was quick but effective. The power of God touched her and she got baptized in the Holy Spirit. Everyone said she "glowed" from that time on. I told her as we were leaving that we had come over from California, had seen some wonderful things happen with people this weekend, but that if nothing else had happened, it would have all been worth it for what happened to her.

WE MOVE ON, BUT THERE'S GLORY ON THAT LOT

Within a short time the tent, chairs, and sound system had been put away in different trucks to be stored in garages until next week. After a quick lunch, Bob and Carolyn drive us to the airport in Phoenix for our flight home. On Monday mornings Bob returns to his job as an engineer and Carolyn home schools. They have such a heart for the poor and broken, and they are starting to have results. They also have a heart for unity in the Body and to keep the flames of revival burning in Tucson. Yes, they're in a hard spiritual place, but then so were Heidi and Rolland, and we know what's happening in Mozambique. Could that happen here - maybe, just maybe. I think Tucson's blessed to have them. And I know Carol and I were blessed to be on that vacant lot this Sunday. It was even worth being out of my comfort zone. Next weekend we'll be in Sonora, CA at Rivers Of Life Christian Fellowship. This church has contended for revival and we know there is something happening there in the mountains. We're excited about going. Maybe you should too. Come join us, it's not too late. Blessings. Bill & Carol Dew
